The Oregon Department of Corrections has reversed course on its reevaluation of nearly 11,000 sentences and has revised most to their original release dates, with the agency issuing warrants for more than a dozen former inmates, including four with convictions from Marion County.

The DOC told Oregon's district attorneys about the change in a Nov. 25 email obtained by the Statesman Journal. DOC officials said the change came after new advice from the Department of Justice and the governor's office.

DOC began a manual review of nearly 11,000 sentences, resulting in the release of at least 40 people and sentence reductions for another 350, immediately following a July Oregon Supreme Court ruling.
