FLAGSTAFF, AZ (AZFamily) — About 1,000 families lined up at Northern Arizona University on Tuesday to be a part of Flagstaff Family Food Centers’ holiday distribution.
Volunteers directed traffic, gathered food, and then loaded it into cars at the food drive. Ceara Chirovsky, vice president of the food centers, said it was the first of its kind. With an increase in need, the center said this year it’s especially important.
“So we are meeting our neighbors in need here in Flagstaff but also through Northern Arizona during this holiday season,” Chirovsky said.
She said they increased the amount of food distributed because food needs have risen 30% this year.
