Before the sun rises in Wayne County, the day is already underway on dairy farms across the region. Cows are being milked, feed mixers are running, and families start another day of work. Wayne County leads Ohio in milk production and ranks among the top 60 counties in the United States. More than 95% of Wayne County farms are family-owned.

Three dairies in the region, Catalpadale and Bristol, located in Marshallville and Zido Valley, located in Wooster, are owned and operated by the Douglass family. Today, Sarah Douglass, the third generation on the farm, leads daily operations, though her path back to the farm was more unconventional than most.
