NILES, Mich. -- Brandywine Community schools let families know about a scary fake abduction scam that happened after school on Monday.
A parent got a phone call saying their child had been taken, and the caller demanded three thousand dollars.
The caller put another child on the phone, pretending to be the student taken.
The parent got suspicious and school staff verified the child was safe and riding the school bus home at the time of the call.
The Brandywine schools remind all parents to talk with students about safety, especially not getting into vehicles with people you don't know.
