More than 23,000 guests attended Memorial Coliseum events in four days last week following the reopening of the facility’s arena after an ice floor reconstruction project.

The project was part of more than $6 million in renovations. The work is expected at least 20 years, a news release said.

The Coliseum has also paid off the debt service needed for the arena expansion. That final payment was made in October.

Funding for the project came from the Professional Sports and Convention Development Area, which uses state and local income tax revenue and state sales taxes generated at the Coliseum, Grand Wayne Center, and the local Purdue and Indiana university campuses.
