Netflix has confirmed that actress Eva Green will join the cast of “Wednesday” for its third season, playing Aunt Ophelia, the long-lost sister of Morticia Addams. The announcement ends months of speculation following Season 2’s finale, which teased the new character’s existence but kept her identity hidden.

Green, best known for her roles in “Casino Royale,” “Penny Dreadful” and Tim Burton’s “Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children,” said she is “thrilled to join the woefully twisted world of ‘Wednesday.’” She promised to bring her own eccentric flair to the Addams family. Showrunners Alfred Gough and Miles Millar praised her “haunting and unpredictable presence,” calling her the best choice for the role.
