ATLANTA — One of the two people charged in the major 2023 Lavista Road apartment fire entered a negotiated plea at a calendar call proceeding on Tuesday, according to her attorney.

Charnelle Gunn entered an Alford plea to the most serious charge, second degree arson, her attorney Richard Blevins told 11Alive. An Alford plea is one which allows a defendant to accept a conviction and sentence without admitting guilt.

As part of the plea deal, Gunn will have 10 years of probation and have to pay $500 a month restitution; she was sentenced under first offender status.
