MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - The Wisconsin Technology Council hosted a panel discussion on Tuesday to examine the impacts of the rapid rise of data centers in the state.

Energy experts, advocates and data center professionals discussed the benefits and costs of Wisconsin’s data center boom during the session. Wisconsin is currently home to 47 data centers across the state, with more being considered by local governments.

“Everything is being turned on its head by an extraordinary need for an additional capacity to meet, what everyone agrees, is an extraordinary new demand,” said Arthur Harrington, a Marquette University Law Professor.
