A long-discussed multi-modal path stretching through Santa Ynez Valley from Buellton through Solvang and beyond Highway 246 got a nudge Monday when the Solvang council agreed to put $30,000 toward the project’s $1.2 million planning and design phase.
Other funding already secured for the project includes a $425,000 state grant secured by and for Buellton’s segment, a $383,016 Caltrans grant secured by the Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Indians, and a cash contribution of $376,000 from the County of Santa Barbara.
The Chumash also secured $1.4 million in federal Active Transportation Infrastructure Implementation funding.
