The Department for Work and Pensions ( DWP ) has disclosed the vehicles being removed from the Motability Scheme due to a rule alteration. The Motability Scheme, which offers discounted cars to those receiving Personal Independence Payment (PIP), will no longer include luxury brands such as BMW and Mercedes, as well as Audi, Lexus, and Alfa Romeo, effective "immediately".
Labour Party chancellor, Rachel Reeves, stated that the scheme's modifications would "support thousands of well-paid, skilled jobs", ahead of Wednesday's budget announcement. By 2035, Motability aims for half of its vehicle offerings to be produced in British factories.
