A Suffolk County couple returned to Long Island Jewish (LIJ) Medical Center on Thanksgiving week to express gratitude for the medical team that saved the 52-year-old man’s life using a therapy reserved for only the most dire of lung injuries.

Sean Jordan developed pneumonia and ended up hospitalized at Northwell’s South Shore University Hospital (SSUH) in Bay Shore right after Christmas 2024. The married father of two was on the verge of being discharged when, on New Year’s Eve, he coughed so violently that he fractured a rib which in turn punctured his lung.
