A dramatic moment captured by drone showed a family being rescued from the rooftop of their nearly-submerged house on Wednesday in Hat Yai, southern Thailand, which is experiencing heavy flooding.
According to local broadcaster Thai PBS, the family of five had smashed through the roof of their house to avoid the rising waters, until they were noticed and rescued by nearby emergency workers.
The family, which includes an elderly woman, were seen in the footage atop a large grey roof, the last part of their home not yet submerged, surrounded by floodwater.
They were then loaded onto a lifeboat, waiting at the bottom of the slanted roof.
Other drone footage showed Hat Yai experiencing extensive flooding.
Elsewhere in the southern area of Nakhon Si Thammarat, flash flooding hit Khiriwong village with one road for vehicles, completely blocked off by rushing water and preventing a motorbike from crossing, as seen in footage from Thai PBS.
