ENGLEWOOD, Fla. (WWSB) - A 3-year-old boy was critically injured Tuesday night when he was hit by a car pulling out of a parking space in Englewood, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
Investigators say the boy and his mother were standing next to their car in a parking space at the Walmart on South McCall Road at about 8:25 p.m.
The mother was placing her infant child into a car seat when her 3-year-old walked in front of a Jeep parked next to them that was preparing to leave.
The driver of the Jeep pulled out of the space and hit the boy, troopers said.
The boy was flown to Tampa General Hospital with critical injuries, a news release from the Highway Patrol said.
The investigation is continuing.
