Rachel Reeves will today deliver her hugely anticipated Autumn Budget after weeks of speculation over potential tax rises. The public have been anticipating what many are calling a make-or-break Budget following the Chancellors’ warning that “each of us must do our bit."
In Liverpool, the pre- Budget mood is mixed, as people weigh up what Labour’s plans could mean for their daily lives. Some fear higher taxes will add to the struggle of the cost-of-living, while others are hoping some money is finally invested into public services.
Last week the Chancellor received forecasts from the Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR), which put the public finances black hole at around £20billion, painting a more positive image for experts that previously feared it was £30-£40billion.
