JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) - The Better Business Bureau is issuing renewed warnings about online shopping scams as retailers advertise big sales during the holiday season.

John O’Hara, president and CEO of Better Business Bureau Mississippi, said consumers should be cautious of deals that seem too good to be true.

“You see that price...boom. You click on it and you go,” O’Hara said.

O’Hara, who has worked at the Better Business Bureau Mississippi for more than a decade, said technology has helped scammers create more convincing fake websites.

“AI has helped scammers,” he said. “These sites look really good. They have pictures of the items on there. The prices are just really too good to be true, especially on the hard to get items.”
