Robert Irwin captured the Len Goodman Mirrorball Trophy in the Dancing with the Stars finale on Tuesday night, scoring 89 of a possible 90 points to win over the judges while winning over the fans with an unbridled positivity reminiscent of his father, the late wildlife conservationist Steve Irwin.
After Irwin's triumph -- which came 10 years after his sister, Bindi Irwin, won the Mirrorball with current DWTS judge Derek Hough -- he reflected on his family's legacy and how grateful he is to help carry it forward.
"It was so scary coming over here, and I've had this dream that's been in my head for 10 years, and I wanted to follow in Bindi's footsteps," Irwin told Access Hollywood. "I remember just watching her having this experience, lifting that Mirrorball, and when she lifted that trophy, she lifted the message that we represent, the conservation legacy, the legacy of my dad, and to keep that going is the honor of my lifetime."
Irwin also shared what he thought would be his dad's response to his DWTS win, and he kept it simple but deeply satisfying to The Crocodile Hunter fans: "One word: crikey."
It's been quite a week for Irwin already, and it's just getting started as Zootopia 2 releases Wednesday with Irwin providing voice work for a koala character named Robert Furwin. Crikey, indeed!
