Brits are estimated to use seven times their usual daily electricity consumption on Christmas Day, new research reveals.
With the festive period fast approaching, more than 65kWh of electricity is expected to be used on the big day itself, a rise from the daily consumption of 8–10 kWh a day and enough to watch Home Alone back-to-back a whopping 183 times.
The research, conducted by EDF, reveals that among the more unusual contributions to the day’s load, two in five (22%) pet owners go the extra mile to cook a special Christmas meal for their pet, alongside the 14.6 million turkeys and 114 million pigs in blankets Brits are expected to consume this Christmas.
