The National Weather Service in Buffalo has issued wind advisories for much of western and central New York from Wednesday afternoon through early Friday morning, warning of gusts strong enough to cause tree damage and scattered power outages.

Western NY (Niagara, Orleans, Erie, Genesee, Wyoming, Chautauqua)

Advisory: Noon Wed – 1 a.m. Fri

Winds: SW 30–40 mph; gusts 50–55 mph

Rochester–Finger Lakes (Monroe, Wayne, Northern Cayuga)

Advisory: 3 p.m. Wed – 1 a.m. Fri

Winds: SW 25–35 mph; gusts 45–50 mph

North Country (Oswego, Jefferson)

Advisory: 5 p.m. Wed – 1 a.m. Fri

Winds: SW 25–35 mph; gusts up to 50 mph
