EAST GRAND FORKS — East Grand Forks Public Schools Superintendent Kevin Grover said artificial intelligence can be a “time-saver” and lead to a “deeper level of thinking,” but the school must take slow steps introducing the technology to students.
Artificial intelligence, particularly large language models — AI systems trained to understand and generate text — have grown in popularity. The most popular LLM, ChatGPT, was the most downloaded app on the app store for seven months straight from March to September 2025. Grover said the rise and normalization of AI means that schools must educate students on “proper use,” but the process will take time.
