THE Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR) has issued a statement after a "technical error" saw it leak the Budget on its website before the Chancellor was able to announce it.

The independent spending watchdog put out its document on the Budget half an hour before the statement was due in the Commons , despite normally publishing it afterwards.

It has led to chaos around the Budget with most major measures set to be announced by Rachel Reeves , including on tax, already confirmed.

The Chancellor learned of the leak on a fellow MP's phone in the middle of PMQs .

The OBR said in a statement: “A link to our economic and fiscal outlook document went live on our website too early this morning. It has been removed.
