Romulus — As Thanksgiving approached, travelers arrived at Detroit Metro Airport early Wednesday ready to start the holiday.
The airport was bustling at 7 a.m. but not crowded. There was a short line to check in around the McNamara Terminal.
Himamshu Ghange, 27, flew a red eye Delta flight from Washington state to visit his family.
When asked how his flight to Detroit was, he said “crappy,” but added he prefers to fly at night.
“You can sleep for the whole flight and not waste valuable time like you would if you slept during the day,” he said.“I go back and forth (from Washington to Michigan. My family lives here and I like to call it home.”
Joe and Amy Over of Portland, Oregon, flew to Metro Detroit to visit their son, who got married and moved to Highland Park.
