HOME – The Hempstead County Historical Society met Tuesday night. Joshua Williams alerted the Society of an upcoming event, “Movies of the Past”, where Hempstead Hall will be showing “White Christmas” on Friday, December 19th. The admission will be $5/person.

John King was present to discuss his family’s business, Southwest Wood Products, which was based in Hope. Mr. King said two-foot stepladders were sold by the boxcar load. The business was started by Frank King, John King’s father. John King discussed how the ladders were made. Mr. King handed out relief cards of ladders that his father had made patterns for.
