Rachel Reeves' Budget has officially concluded, with the Chancellor confirming a big change to household energy costs.

Ms Reeves covered a wide range of topics in her statement to the Commons, but one in particular is expected to benefit Brits majorly.

The Chancellor has admitted the Government will be scrapping the Energy Company Obligation (ECO) scheme, which was originally put in place to tackle fuel poverty and help reduce carbon emissions.

Ms Reeves said at the moment the plan "costs households £1.7bn a year on their bills, and for 97 per cent of families in fuel poverty, the scheme has cost them more than it has saved."

She concluded that as a result from April 2026, the Government will slash £150 from the "average household energy bills."
