A Lord has joined calls to reject "harebrained" plans for a solar farm next door to a site described as the birthplace of Roman Britain. More than 650 people have written to Dover District Council (DDC) to object to a proposed scheme for the Little South Solar Farm near Ash.
The 206-acre farmland site sits just 160 metres from Richborough Roman Fort, founded after the conquest of Britain in AD 43. Campaigners say the solar farm - which would cover an area the size of around 128 football pitches - would "irrevocably damage" one of the most archaeologically important sites in the country within weeks.
