Has any player ever lifted VU football higher than Pavia? Our panel weighs in
Is Diego Pavia the greatest player in Vanderbilt football history? The Ledger recently posed that question to nine former players, coaches, team officials and longtime media members who have covered the Commodores during the last 50 years, but Pavia may have provided the answer himself earlier this month by becoming the school’s first athlete to throw for at least 300 yards while also rushing for more than 100 yards in a 45-38 comeback victory over Auburn.
And then he went one better last week against Kentucky, throwing for a career-high 484 yards and five touchdowns in a 45-17 rout of the Wildcats. Pavia also ran for 48 more yards and a sixth score, keeping the Commodores’ hopes for a College Football Playoff
