RHINEBECK, N.Y. — Town officials have granted authority to enforce parking regulations as the first step in implementing rules aimed at preventing Rhinecliff residents from losing on-street parking spaces to long-term Amtrak riders.
Approval for towing and impounding vehicles came in a unanimous vote during the Town Board’s meeting on Monday, Nov. 24.
“This needs to be filed with the (state) Department of State before we can adopt parking regulations for Rhinecliff, but this does empower the removal of vehicles,” Supervisor Elizabeth Spinzia said.
While the Rhinecliff parking rules have yet to be adopted, Spinzia was quick to let town Highway Superintendent Robert Wyant know there are other regulations where vehicle removal can be important.
