A crash in Southeast Portland killed a pedestrian on Wednesday morning, police said.

Officers arrived at Southeast Cesar E. Chavez Boulevard and Harrison Street at about 5:40 a.m. to find the victim dead, according to police. The driver remained at the scene.

Cesar E. Chavez Boulevard will be closed between Market and Lincoln streets during the initial phase of the investigation.

Neither the victim nor the driver has been publicly identified.
