The capybara community at the Cape May County Zoo expanded a bit recent as, zoo officials announced on Wednesday that Marigold, which they note is a beloved capybara at the zoo, gave birth to five healthy pups on Nov. 21, 2025.
The pups and their mother can be spotted periodically from the bridge at the zoo's capybara habitat, officials said.

The new additions join Marigold's sister, Buttercup, who officials said, gave birth to two pups back in October.
If you hope to catch a glimpse of the new additions, officials said, the best chance to peep the capybaras is before 2:30 p.m., because zookeepers typically bring moms and the pups indoors for evenings.
