BENTON HARBOR, MI — A plane flipped upside down and crashed in Southwest Michigan, police said.

Around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 26, police responded to a report of an aircraft crash at the Southwest Michigan Regional Airport.

Police found a small single-engine “bush style” plane upside down with both occupants already out of the aircraft, the Benton Harbor Department of Public Safety said in a news release.

Firefighters and police foamed the plane’s damaged wings and contained the fuel tanks.

An ambulance took one patient to the hospital with head lacerations.

The Benton Harbor Department of Public Safety responded along with the Benton Charter Township Fire Department, St. Joseph Department of Public Safety and Medic 1 Ambulance.
