NEW MADRID, Mo. (WSIL) -- One person was seriously injured after a crash along I-55 in New Madrid County on Tuesday evening.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol said the crash happened on November 25, at 5:43 p.m., along I-55 in the northbound lanes at the 47 mile marker.
State police said a 74-year-old from Howardville was driving a 2011 Chevrolet Equinox traveling the wrong direction on the highway and crashed into a 2022 Kenworth.
The 74-year-old was reported with serious injuries and taken to the Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau for treatment.
The roadway was shut down for more than two hours as crews worked the scene.
