NORTH HAVEN, Conn. (WFSB) - People are rushing to reach their holiday destinations by plane, train and car.

AAA expects 772,000 people to drive through the state this week, with Thursday representing the busiest travel day.

The organization warns that Wednesday afternoon through 8 p.m. on Thursday is the worst time to drive.

Roads have been packed throughout the week, with all-day Thursday marking peak travel time.

Drivers are being urged to leave early and avoid highways if possible.

At the pump, gas prices are similar to last Thanksgiving, averaging just over $3 per gallon.

Bradley International Airport is expecting to serve 95,000 people leaving Connecticut this week, about the same number as last Thanksgiving.
