After being dropped off by the school bus on an October afternoon, a 12-year-old child returned home to find nothing and no one in the apartment he had left that morning. The alleged incident in Coryell County led to the indictment in November of co-defendants Keven Adams, 46, and Erica Sanders, 32, on a third-degree charge of abandoning or endangering a child.

Neither Adams nor Sanders were being held in the Coryell County Jail as of Tuesday. According to police, Sanders and Adams are family members of the child.

At around 5:18 p.m. on Oct. 17, Copperas Cove police were dispatched to an apartment in the 4200 block of Primrose Drive after a report of an abandoned child.
