PHOENIX (AZFamily) — A dog has died after flames ripped through a townhouse in north Phoenix on Wednesday morning.
At about 10:15 a.m., first responders were called to the area of 19th Avenue and Cactus Road for reports of a structure fire. When firefighters arrived, they found smoke coming from the roof of a townhouse.
Crews quickly used fire hoses into the home to fight the blaze, while ladder crews cut multiple holes in the roof to let smoke out, according to the Phoenix Fire Department.
Firefighters searched the home for any residents and found an injured dog. First responders tried to use a Fido bag resuscitate the dog, but it was pronounced dead.
No other injuries were reported, and one person is displaced. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
