MADISON, Wis. -- A panel of appeals court judges on Wednesday affirmed the conviction of Chandler Halderson, who was sentenced to life in prison in 2022 for murdering and dismembering his parents.

Halderson, 27, was found guilty of two counts of first-degree intentional homicide, two counts of mutilating a corpse and two counts of giving false information about a missing person. The verdict came after an eight-day trial where prosecutors showed Halderson murdered his parents, Bart and Krista.

Prosecutors presented evidence that Chandler dismembered his parents after killing them and tried to burn parts of their bodies in the fireplace of their home in Windsor. He then filed a missing persons report, claiming Bart and Krista had gone to a cabin in northern Wisconsin for 4th of July weeken
