Toronto police will be expanding its presence in four more communities as well as on the TTC as part of its neighbourhood community officer program.

In a joint press conference Wednesday that included Toronto police Chief Myron Demkiw and Mayor Olivia Chow, a new plan was announced to increase efforts for officers to work with neighbourhoods to develop solutions to reduce crime.

Dufferin Grove, Banbury-Don Mills/Victoria Village, Wexford Maryvale, and Etobicoke City Centre will see an increase in community police officers. These areas were chosen based on several factors including violent crimes, youth crimes and community safety indicators, according to Demkiw.
