Home Hardware Stores Ltd. is marking what it calls a major step in its Western Canadian expansion with the opening of its first Winnipeg location this week.
The company says the Winnipeg South Home Hardware is 30,000 sq. ft. The store at 2860 Pembina Highway will hold a soft opening on Wednesday at 5 p.m. local time. The store will open to the public on Thursday, becoming the newest addition to Home Hardware’s national network of more than 1,000 independently owned locations.

The Winnipeg expansion is led by the Inuit-owned EPLS Group of Companies, a family business that operates Home Hardware Building Centre locations in Arviat and Rankin Inlet, Nunavut. The new store will be the group’s third Home Hardware and its first in an urban southern market.
