Team Housing Solutions, a contractor known for quickly establishing military housing, has been calling hotels on the Oregon coast in search of up to 200 hotel rooms for a year, Newport’s mayor said Tuesday.
Mayor Jan Kaplan disclosed the Texas firm’s hunt for hotel rooms in a social media update aimed at keeping residents abreast of federal plans to establish a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility in Newport, a new flashpoint in the Trump administration’s escalating immigration enforcement actions in Oregon.
“We confirmed today that Team Housing Solutions has called multiple hotels up and down the coast as recently as this morning looking for as many as 200 hotel rooms for a year,” Kaplan said in a video posted to Facebook and Instagram.
