PORTLAND, Ore. – A group of nearly a dozen attorneys general, including those from Oregon and Washington, have filed a lawsuit against the Trump administration. The lawsuit aims to prevent the administration from removing SNAP aid from certain permanent residents in the United States.

The suit includes individuals who have been granted asylum or admitted as refugees. The attorneys general said that the USDA issued guidance to states in October, which could lead to some being denied assistance from the food aid program.

The attorneys general claim that the USDA is illegally rewriting the rules surrounding SNAP aid. They assert that these changes could negatively impact vulnerable individuals who rely on the program for essential food support.
