Douglas Booth has shared that his dad "tragically" took his own life this year. The Riot Year actor took to Instagram on what would have been his dad, financial adviser, Simon's birthday to share the heartbreaking news.

The My Salinger Year actor, 33, shared a collection of images of his late father, one showing Douglas and his sister as young children, embraced in Simon's arms. Others showed him alongside his family, on days out, including an image of Bel Powley, Douglas's actress wife, alongside Simon.

The Greenwich-born actor said: "Today would have been my dad’s 64th birthday." In a heartbreaking admission, he went on to announce that Simon tragically died earlier this year.
