WASHINGTON − Two National Guard members were shot near the White House in Washington, DC, on Nov. 26, officials said. A suspect is in custody.
West Virginia Gov. Patrick Morrisey said the condition of the guardsmen was unclear. Both victims were members of the West Virginia National Guard.
"We are now receiving conflicting reports about the condition of our two Guard members and will provide additional updates once we receive more complete information," Morrisey said in a statement. "Our prayers are with these brave service members, their families, and the entire Guard community." Morrisey had earlier reported that both had died.
