Two National Guard troops were shot — with one left in critical condition — just blocks from the White House on Wednesday, according to law enforcement sources and officials, who shortly after confirmed that a suspect was in custody. The armed soldiers were fired upon near one of the metro stations at Farragut Square in Northwest DC, less than a half mile north of the White House. Photos in the aftermath of the incident appeared to show one of the troops was struck in the head.
