TOWN OF ADAMS, New York (WWNY) - With snow in the forecast, North Country highway departments are preparing to hit the road, just in time for another holiday.
The plows are lined up at the town of Adams highway barn, and some maintenance is wrapping up on equipment before the snow begins to fall.
In the last few years, heavy snow over the holidays has taken crews from their families on both Christmas and Thanksgiving.
Adams Highway Superintendent Richard Walden says it’s tough work, but the crews get it done.
“We try to make it so they still have time with their families. We try to hold off as much as we can, but there are sometimes when you just can’t, depending on how bad the storm is,” said Walden.
