WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - The Derby High School marching band will perform in the 91st Chicago Thanksgiving Parade Thursday morning.
The group arrived on Tuesday and has been rehearsing and exploring Chicago. Band members are wearing green sweatshirts with “Derby Band” across the front.
Earning a spot in the parade was competitive. The band had to submit a performance recording to be selected.
The group has spent the last month and a half preparing for the performance.
“We usually try to do something that relates back to Kansas, so we’re going to do a Larry Kerchner arrangement of ‘Home on the Range.’ So, it’s a lot of fun, we’re excited,” said Adam DeVault, Derby High School band director.
The parade starts at 8 a.m. Thursday. It can be streamed live on CBS Chicago or later in the day o
