DULUTH — Redshirt junior Caleb Siwek saw his patience pay off last season when he assumed the role of starting point guard for the first time in his college career at Minnesota Duluth.
After waiting in the wings behind program mainstays Jack Middleton and Drew Blair, Siwek was off and running through the first 13 games of the season, averaging 12.7 points per game, until a devastating ankle injury in a Jan. 4 outing against Minnesota State Moorhead.
Just like that, a season that held so much promise was over.
“It was tough because I’m a competitor. I want to be out with my guys,” said Siwek of his time away from the court. “I want to battle with my guys every single night, so just the aspect that I wasn’t out there being able to help my team out in these close games really kind of hurt
