NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — The Caroline County Sheriff’s Office says a Newport News man has been arrested after an armed robbery involving four French Bulldogs in the Ladysmith area.
According to the sheriff’s office, the incident happened the evening of November 23 in the parking lot of the Ladysmith Food Lion. Deputies say a seller who arranged to meet a buyer to sell one French Bulldog was held at gunpoint. The suspect then stole all four puppies, worth about $4,000 each, along with a firearm from the victim’s vehicle, before speeding away.
Investigators used digital evidence, license plate reader technology, and help from several law enforcement agencies to identify the suspect as 37-year-old Ronald Gaylord James of Newport News.
