A New Jersey supplier accused of delivering bulk marijuana to a Pocono Summit smoke shop was arrested during a narcotics investigation that led to multiple raids, Pocono Mountain Regional Police announced on Wednesday, Nov. 26.

The investigation began on Tuesday, Sept. 2, when officers executed a search warrant at the All in 1 Pocono Smoke Shop and Convenience Store at 2657 Route 940 in Pocono Summit. Inside, officers seized marijuana, THC products, drug paraphernalia, and cash, according to the release. Employee Shane Scarlett, 25, of Mount Pocono, was charged with Possession with Intent to Deliver and related offenses. His $250 bail was posted the next day on Sept. 3.

Detectives later identified a gray Chrysler Pacifica with New Jersey registration suspected of supplying the business with marijuana, police said. On Tuesday, Nov. 25, officers observed the suspected supplier — Fareeq Ali, 31, of West Collingswood, NJ — walk into the shop carrying a bag and stay inside for an extended period. When Ali left, he nearly caused a crash while pulling onto Route 940, authorities said.

Police stopped Ali’s vehicle and found bulk quantities of marijuana along with U.S. currency consistent with drug sales, according to the release. Officers returned to the smoke shop and found Scarlett again working inside. Investigators determined Ali had brought marijuana to the shop for resale.

Police obtained a second search warrant for the business. During that search, officers seized additional bulk marijuana, dozens of THC vape cartridges, and more cash. The investigation remains active, and additional charges are expected.

Ali was charged with Felony Possession with Intent to Deliver, Misdemeanor Possession of a Controlled Substance, Misdemeanor Possession of Paraphernalia, and several summary traffic violations, including Vehicles Entering or Crossing Roadway, Vehicle Turning Left, and Sunscreening. His preliminary arraignment was held before Judge Travagline, who set his bail at $75,000 secured. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 9 at 10 a.m.
