TEMPLE, Texas — What started as a small gesture three years ago has grown into a Thanksgiving tradition that's feeding more than 20 Central Texas families this holiday season.

Dustin Pustka, who owns and operates Pustka's Family Barbecue in Temple alongside his family, is providing complete home-cooked meals to 21 families in need. They're serving more than four times the number they helped when the tradition began.

"I told my dad and momma I said, 'You know, it'd be really cool if we gave away some meals,'" Pustka recalled.

That first year, the Pustka's took to Facebook, asking followers to nominate families who could use a helping hand during the holidays. They were able to help four or five families.

"Wasn't a whole lot," Pustka said. "And then the next year, we did 10."
