HUTCHINS, Texas — There's Thanksgiving trouble for one of the biggest turkey suppliers in Texas.
Greenberg Smoked Turkey, Inc. said hundreds — maybe as many as a thousand or more — smoked turkeys are caught in a shipping snafu, which could leave customers hungry on Thanksgiving Day.
"This is not the norm, it's very upsetting," said Sam Greenberg, president of the Tyler, Texas-based company. "I don't care what that number is, all I care is that if your turkey is impacted, that's the most important turkey to us here."
He said most of the birds were bound for families in North Texas, and the problems started at a FedEx facility in Hutchins, Texas. The company dropped off the smoked turkeys at the warehouse, he said, then noticed the birds seemed grounded this weekend.
