WHEELING, W.Va. — A three-goal third period lifted the Wheeling Nailers to a 5-2 win over the Indy Fuel Wednesday night.
Brent Johnson opened the scoring for the Nailers less than a minute into the game, then Wheeling made it 2-0 when Jack Works scored off a feed from Tanner Andrew at 8:03 of the first.
Harrison Israels got the Fuel on the board with a power play goal less than 2 1/2 minutes later to bring Indy within one goal after 20 minutes.
The teams combined for 22 shots in the second period, but played scoreless hockey for nearly 19 minutes when Israels scored his second power play goal of the night with 1:05 remaining in the period to tie the game. Sahil Panwar and Matt Petgrave both assisted on each of Israels' goals.
