Syracuse, N.Y. – A man was killed Wednesday night after he was shot outside the James Geddes Housing complex in Syracuse’s Near Westside neighborhood, police said.

Around 9:36 p.m., officers went to a ShotSpotter alert in the 300 block of Tully Street. When they arrived, they found a 40-year-old man with gunshot wounds to the head and chest, according to Kieran Coffey, a spokesperson for the Syracuse Police Department.

The man was near 317 Tully Street and was not conscious or breathing, according to Onondaga County 911 dispatches. Officers began CPR at the scene.

He was taken to Upstate University Hospital in an AMR ambulance, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

Two vehicles were also hit by gunfire.
